How does your brand differ from other industry brands in the same category? What gives you the competitive edge?
AI has transformed human lives; now PiFi brings that power to pets. We're not just adding AI, we're revolutionizing pet care with unique personalized feeding and deep health insights, unlike the limited solutions currently available. PiFi is changing everything for pets, by bringing truly unique AI features.
Describe the ingredients you look for in the products you use.
When evaluating products, our primary focus is on the quality, safety, and suitability of the materials used- waterproof, 304 stainless steel, etc. rather than 'ingredients' in the traditional sense. We prioritize materials that ensure the health and well-being of pets and provide a durable, reliable experience for pet owners.

Walk us through your development process — from ideation to the product we see on the shelf.
PiFi smart pet feeder's development was deeply rooted in a personal mission, sparked after I experienced the heartbreak of losing my own dog, whose health was impacted by an inconsistent feeding schedule; this fueled a drive to help other pet owners ensure their companions' well-being. This motivation guided our ideation and research, focusing specifically on creating a reliable tool for consistent, portion-controlled feeding. We then moved into meticulous design, planning the hardware, intuitive mobile app, and physical unit with pet safety (using food-grade materials) and user-friendliness as top priorities.
What are some things you take into consideration during the creation of new products?
We really focus on a few key things to make sure it's great for both you and your pet. First off, it has to actually solve a real problem – like making sure your pet gets fed the right amount on time, which we know is super important for their health. Keeping your pet safe is our absolute top priority, so we choose materials carefully (especially ensuring anything touching food is safe) and design it to avoid any accidents. We also work hard to make it easy for you to use – simple setup, a clear app, and quick cleaning are must-haves. Of course, it needs to work reliably every time, feeding accurately and staying connected. We build it strong so it lasts, and we always listen to feedback from pet owners like you to make sure we're getting it right. Finally, we ensure it meets all the official safety rules before it ever gets packaged up.
Other than PiFi, what is something you are passionate about?
Beyond the daily operations of the company, I'm deeply passionate about promoting pet health and responsible pet ownership. Having personally seen how crucial factors like nutrition and routine are for our animal companions, I feel a strong commitment to helping ensure they live healthy, happy lives. This passion drives me to stay informed about animal welfare and find ways to support pet well-being in the broader community, which naturally fuels the mission behind our products but stands firmly as a core personal value on its own.
What is one major lesson you learned about running a business?
The most crucial lesson I've learned is the paramount importance of excellent customer service. Beyond simply creating the PiFi feeder, ensuring our customers have a positive experience and receive helpful support is fundamental. Great service builds trust on platforms like Paw Wire, provides vital feedback, and truly helps people care for their pets' health using our product – fulfilling our core mission. Prioritizing that support has been absolutely essential.
What are some challenges you have overcome with PiFi?
We recognize the potential of advanced technologies like AI facial recognition in enhancing smart pet products, for instance, to identify individual pets in multi-pet homes or monitor behavior. However, a significant technical challenge arises when aiming to apply such features reliably across a wide variety of species within cat and dog breeds. The vast differences in facial structures, features, and even how pets present themselves make recognition development consistently challenged. This is a specific hurdle we are mindful of as we explore future innovations and work towards our goal of serving a broader range of beloved pets.
What would you say is your most effective marketing channel?
Our most effective marketing currently combines targeted social media ads to reach specific pet owners and positive customer reviews/word-of-mouth, which are crucial for building trust on platforms like Paw Wire. This has changed over time; we initially relied more heavily on basic marketplace visibility. Now, informed by data and customer feedback, our strategy is more refined, focusing on targeted outreach and leveraging authentic user advocacy.

Give us the backstory of your brand’s name.
The backstory of our brand name, PiFi, is quite straightforward and directly reflects our core focus. We wanted a name that immediately communicated our mission of bringing smart, connected technology into the world of pet care. We combined 'Pi', representing our dedication to Pets, with 'Fi', short for WiFi, which represents the connectivity powering our smart devices like the pifi smart pet feeder. So, 'PiFi' essentially stands for 'Pet WiFi' – symbolizing our commitment to leveraging modern technology to improve the health, safety, and well-being of pets in today's connected homes.
What would you like to see for PiFi's future?
Our future vision for PiFi is to deepen our positive impact on pet health through smart, accessible technology. We plan to expand beyond the PiFi feeder, developing more connected products focused on proactive wellness, potentially incorporating enhanced health monitoring and more personalized care insights. Ultimately, we aim to be a trusted partner for pet owners, empowering them with reliable tech to help their beloved companions live longer, healthier lives.
What do you think is the most prominent concern in the pet industry?
One of the most pressing concerns in the pet industry today is the lack of precision and personalization in everyday pet care, particularly when it comes to nutrition and feeding habits. Vets consistently report that overfeeding and underfeeding are among the most common issues they see—leading to obesity, malnutrition, and long-term health risks like diabetes, joint problems, and digestive disorders.
At the same time, pet owners often struggle with understanding exactly how much and how often to feed—especially in multi-pet households where pets have different dietary needs, life stages, or health conditions. Without real-time data or guidance, even the most well-meaning pet parent can find it difficult to track changes in appetite or adjust portions over time.
